Over the years I've had numerous opportunities to share my gifts. I didn’t realize how much fun it would be
to go through old CD's and put a compilation of recordings together. I hope you enjoy listening to these selections as
much as I enjoyed making this page. Please note: Quality of recordings vary. The Hillside Worship Team had a creative rehearsal session together. We like to hold one every once and a while
to come up with new ways of playing old standards. Well, practice turned into a jam session and we recorded this basically
on accident. Needless to say it was really fun rehearsal! -THIS ONE'S FOR YOU MOM & DAD.
These are some examples
of my worship leading style, solo & duet ability, and creativity in leading worship
– I created a radio commercial to advertise an upcoming concert at our church. – I needed to test out the capabilities of my newest keyboard. I call this the experimental version of “A Shield About Me”. The Lord Bless You And Keep You – This was the first song that I recorded on my digital recorder. I sang all four parts. – My own version of a popular Michael W. Smith song. This is the way I heard it in my head. I re-wrote the ending. I played the piano part while being accompanied by a sequence that I made on the keyboard. -This is a song I wrote for/about a photographer friend of mine. But I thought it leant itself to a spiritual message. Performed at Church on Rock. A duet with a beautiful voice, Tami Weinert. I'm also playing guitar. Nails In Your Hands & Take My Heart –This is my first recording of me playing the guitar. I am playing and singing all the parts in this arrangement. -- Professional Recording APU – This song is simply one that is close to
my heart for many reasons....
Hillside Church Worship Favorites -- Might have had too much fun with this one on that day.... Half way through the song, I decided to do an impromptu break down section where I guided each instrument and vocal in one at a time. This song helped Hillside have a very fun atmosphere, we loved it! -- The previous version started a little on the slow side, but it was a very natural groove for the team and the congregation to fall into. I also found that letting it breath a bit gave way to more creativity than usual. Here it is at a faster tempo. It's a toe tapper... -- This song quickly became one of our favorites at Hillside. It's seriously energetic. Who knew it
could be sung as a ballad as well? It was as much of a surprise to us as it is to you... half way through the song we turned
it into a ballad/longing kind of song. All I remember is not wanted to stop....
-- One of my all time personal favorites. Love it. -- We love this song. This was an attempt to perform it out of the box in a kind of Sade/Braxton style. I think we succeeded. It is such a beautiful song to begin with, during our rehearsal this song went on for a while. -- "You are higher than any other man, you are stronger than any other man..." - was spontaneous
worship again. We didn't plan it. I just remember looking at the congregation and thinking, "...God, help us focus;
we need to focus" and this is what came out. As you can see, it propelled the song to a new level. It's a special
worship song anyway but when God gets involved it's a whole new ball game.
What A Friend... (fun rock version) -- This is one of the greatest hymns, we had a lot of fun coming up with this...
and no, it didn't happen all the time....
-- Wow! What a beat! We were goofing around during practise and this was the result. We
ended up doing this for an Easter service. That's me on the djembe... I broke my wedding ring on it... it's fixed
now.
-- Just had to open this song with some spontaneous worship. I never know when it will happen or sometimes
even why, but when it does it is sweet. Never doubt what God is doing in your service only know that He is working.
--Yes, we actually did this for a worship service. It seamed natural to take a song that virtually everybody
knew and change just a few words and reclaim it for the glory of God. We had a good time.
Solo's
Excerpts from the Church On The Rock Worship Team recorded CD songsA long time ago I invited the worship team to a retreat in a cabin in the Santa Cruz Mountains to record a CD. I am playing the keyboard and singing on all of these songs. – This song was basically a free-for-all at the end of a worship team retreat. We had been recording all day and we just wanted to have some fun so we invited anyone who wanted to sing. The team is composed of about 15 people including children and adults. |
