God Is Worth The Effort

 

 

Every Sunday we have the awesome privilege and opportunity to worship our Almighty God personally and corporately! It is an opportunity to give Him our applause, our cheers, our thanks, and our recognition of His day-by-day involvement in our lives.  He helps us, provides for us, guides us, forgives us, protects us, and sustains us day after day.  He blesses our lives in a thousand different ways as He touches us with His mercy, love, and grace.

In every service, we try to honor Him in our worship. Ministry teams prepare every week to make our worship of God a time that is meaningful and special. Many times, no effort is spared. Even the smallest detail receives attention. While this may be so, it is no secret that ministry can be hard sometimes. It is possible that in our running, we get tripped up a bit. We can get complacent, tired, or become guilty of not wanting to put out our best effort. There are so many people doing so many things in ministry, I am sure we run the gamut.

Yet, there is coming a day when all of nature will join together in a grand crescendo of worship! Together with nature, we will give our God the praise, glory and worship that He alone deserves.  In a prophetic word, the old prophet Isaiah described this worship with these words –

“For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace. The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy. The trees of the field will clap their hands….”  (Isaiah 55:12)

Life will be made new in that day!  Paradise lost will become paradise regained. Loud cheers and applause will shatter the silence of nature! The trees and mountains will give their thunderous approval with their standing ovations for God! This will be possible because the curse that keeps them silent will be lifted and they will be silent no longer!

In this context of worship, the Psalmist wrote to us and declared to each of us a proclamation to worship God with all we have –

“Shout to the Lord all the earth;

Serve the Lord with gladness;

Come before Him with joyful singing;

Know that the Lord Himself is God.” (Psalm 100:1-3)

So, when I think about this great privilege of worship, it stands to reason that the knowledge of how good He is should extend into every effort we make for His purposes. Whether big or small, from the mondain to grand, from the easy to the difficult, God and His purposes are worth every ounce of effort, and then some! Even in our brokenness and tiredness, the warrior who’s joy of the Lord is their strength, moves to continue on. This doesn’t mean we don’t need a break to recharge, or to sit out for a season. These too, are the things that God plans for, and His purposes are still achieved in His own timing.

There have been many times we have witnessed ministries volunteers work for His purposes while struggling with personal issues, brokenness, tiredness, and insecurity. Do you ever wonder why people exert themselves so much for this purpose? I believe it is because God is faithful. He sees our effort and He does not and will not, waste it. For every effort made in His name, He can multiply.
