As Worship Pastors and Leaders, every Sunday we have the incredible privilege and opportunity to personally and collectively worship our Almighty God! It is our chance to celebrate Him, express our thanks and praise, and acknowledge His constant presence in our lives. He helps us, provides for us, guides us, forgives us, protects us, and sustains us every single day. He blesses us in countless ways, surrounding us with His mercy, love, and grace.
Each week, we gather to honor Him through worship. Our worship team prepares carefully to make our time together meaningful and special. But imagine a day when all of creation will join in a grand crescendo of worship! Together with nature, we will give God the praise, glory, and worship that He alone deserves.
The prophet Isaiah gives us a glimpse of that moment:
“For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy, the trees of the field will clap their hands…” (Isaiah 55:12)
King David described nature as if it had hands and a voice of its own:
“Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.” (Psalm 98:7-9)
Paul describes how all creation eagerly awaits the day when it will be freed from the effects of the Fall and fully share in God’s glory:
“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.” (Romans 8:19-22)
Jesus Himself declares that if people do not praise Him, even the stones will cry out, showing that all creation is ready to respond to God’s glory:
“…the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen… Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples!’ ‘I tell you,’ he replied, ‘if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’” (Luke 19:37-40)
In this spirit of worship, the Psalmist urges us to praise God with all we have:
“Shout to the Lord, all the earth; Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing; Know that the Lord Himself is God.” (Psalm 100:1-3)
I never want to belittle the tremendous privilege it is to worship. Let us refuse to let a tree or a hill outdo our praise of Almighty God. Let us not allow nature to shame us with our silence. Instead, let’s set the standard, raise the bar, and fully worship our great God every chance we get—because He alone is worthy!
